Breakfast Island

Breakfast Island

Breakfast Island is located in the Rambha Bay between Badakuda and Somolo island. It is a pear shaped island. It is otherwise known as "Sankuda island". It is a unique place in itself and is basically shaped as a pear and lies between Badakuda and Somolo islands near Rambha. It was the King of Khalikote who constructed a bungalow right on the island, which is presently in a broken-down condition but somehow mirrors the rich beauty of its yesteryears. Mr. Snodgrass the who was the Collector of Ganjam during that period, used to occupy this Bungalow quite frequently. The island was full of greenery and he used to do his office work on this island. The flora of the island is quite interesting. A number of interesting rare plants are still found on this Island. This is a hillock with huge exposed hanging rocks. The island is covered with Herbs, Shrubs, Trees and Creepers. The granite rocks are remnants of Eastern Ghats. Some of the huge rocks are painted white because of the folic acid from the droppings of the birds. During winter, the migratory birds are coming to this land in a large proportion.
