Interpretation centre at Satapada

Interpretation centre at Satapada, Puri

Satapada is the ultimate place to watch Irrawaddy dolphins. Since Irrawaddy dolphin is a shy animal seeing entire dolphin is very rare, generally some portion of the tail or head of the dolphin is visible while they are swimming or spitting. Since last few years this spot is a major tourist attraction because of the development of a Dolphin Sanctuary. Satapada is positioned on the south-eastern part of Chilika lagoon and is also well known for the Sea Mouth Island where Chilika Lake meets the Bay of Bengal. Watching the connection of the Chilika lagoon to the sea is also an amazing experience while visiting Satapada. The Chilika Development Authority at Satpada operates as a mini museum of information on the Chilika lake. Tourists can learn a lot about Chilika inside this center, including the different types of fishing, fishing communities, species that are available, birds that frequent Chilika Lake, its biological richness, and more.
